Obama Edges Out McCain in Defense Contributions
According to the latest Federal Election Commission data (released August 20, 2008), Senator Barack Obama is edging out Senator John McCain in campaign contributions from individuals and PACs connected with the defense industry. Sen. Obama beats Sen. McCain with $456, 226 in contributions to McCain’s $448, 851. As of June, McCain was neck-and-neck with Obama, but slightly ahead, an odd position for a Republican presidential candidate, Politico reported. Republicans are generally perceived to be favored by the defense industry. Now the two have switched positions. The Center for Responsive Politics organized the FEC data.
